A curveball.

My goodness so much change, yet so much excitement. Wednesday we had our weekly missions meeting. We talked about poverty. The types, the myths, common elements, and what we can do. I don't know if you realize this or not but we have this incredible opportunity to serve people in our neighborhoods and globally. You see as an American we have the education and resources to do so. And as a follower of Christ we actually have even more opportunities. We have the opportunity to invest in peoples lives. To find the need for a voice, and to be that voice for the voiceless. We have the opportunity to share the Gospel. The good news of Jesus to people. To give people hope through Christ.

Anyways after this chat about poverty and and all that jazz, we broke off into our teams. If you don't already know I have been blessed with this opportunity to serve the Lord in the Philippines over my spring break. You can check out that story here...Philippines.

We had this really neat curveball thrown at us Wednesday. Before break we had been praying that if it would be God's will for us to help out with the aftermath of the typhoon that hit the Philippines, that God would just open up that opportunity for our team. Our team leader was able to go visit his family in the Philippines over break. And he told us that there are at least 100 families who they partner with through RBI (Resources for the Blind Inc.) whose houses were destroyed. These families have at least one blind member in their family. And well they are currently without a home. We have this amazing opportunity to invest in at least one family's life. To build them a house, to build a relationship with them, and to most importantly present them with the hope only Christ can bring.

The cost to build a house for a family will be somewhere around $3000. And I am not writing this post to ask for your money BUT I am asking for you to partner with my team in PRAYER. We've known since the beginning that this trip will only be made possible through prayer. So if you could be praying along with us about...
  • Finances to pour in so each individual may go.
  • Finances to build a home while over there.
  • Affordable plane tickets.
  • The family we will be building this house for which is currently unknown at the moment.
  • For this team God has uniquely put together to just continue to be flexible and to bond.
Your prayers mean a lot. I am excited to have you join me on this journey. I will keep posting updates as I find out more information.

And if God lays it upon your heart to support my team and I and help out financially-and any sized gift, big or small, will help-please make checks out to Ecola Bible School and send it to the following address:

Ecola Bible School
PO Box 190
Cannon Beach, OR 97110

*(Please make sure you DON’T put my name ANYWHERE on the check if you want it to be tax deductible. Simply put the school’s name in the “Pay to the order of” line. Please put a separate sticky note or piece of paper with my name on it.)

Thanks for your prayers and support!

Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
