Letting go.

Often times in life we are caught off guard by unexpected surprises God brings into our life. For instance an unexpected friendship or job or well you can fill in the blank. God is good and He wants His children to experience and embrace Him. He brings life, joy, and freedom. But you see God is also a jealous God. This is something I am just beginning to grasp. I don't even fully know what all to share...

Okay so lets take a minute and just think about this. Why do we tend to cling to things of this world like friendships, relationships, the mountain peaks in life? Ya know what I am talking about? It seems like we so often desire those instant gratifications to the point where they almost begin to make us lose sight of God. So, we need to shift are mindsets and allow God to consume us because all of the things we tend to allow ourselves to cling to mean nothing without God at the center. Our hand tends to want to extend and reach out towards the thing or person we think will bring us the happiness we so long for. We naturally want to grab the person's hand next to us. To know we are loved by another. To know another person likes us. To know we have a purpose in life.

The answer to these statements is simple: JESUS.

There is a beautiful image God wants to show us. I don't know if you know this or not but God is a beautiful creator. He takes our messes and turns them into beautiful things that are very pleasing to His eyes. God wants us to loosen the grip to the things we are either trying to control or that are just distracting us from Him. His hand is stretched out to us and He is just so patiently waiting for us to grab His hand.

Friendships, relationships, mountain peaks in life aren't bad things. They are beautiful gifts from God. I think we just need to be cautious to not allow ourselves to become entitled to such gifts rather begin to take life day by day treasuring each gift God gives us.

Back to my thought about God being jealous. He wants all of us. He wants us to just be so consumed and in awe of Him that His gifts just naturally surprise us. In the beginning of Psalm 23:3 it says,

He restores my soul.

God desires our souls to rest in His embrace so He may heal us and protect us and maybe when we discover this just maybe that's when we can allow ourselves to appreciate such gifts. What an honor God would choose to bless us with such lovely things in this world and that He would entrust us with such gifts.

As we begin to let go, allowing ourselves to cling to God, we begin to experience life. I guess another quick thought I would like to share is this... We should never put God into a box because His timing is perfect timing. Plus, His timing never seems to align with ours which is just possibly another reason we must rest in His embrace.
