God has blessed me with an incredible job this summer. I laugh now thinking back to the springtime because I thought I knew what type of job would be a good fit for me this summer. My mind was set on working as a barista or a waitress. You know those kind of jobs where you get tips... real good tips in a town full of rich tourists. Well God's plan for me this summer had nothing to do with a job where I would get tips. Instead, He is allowing me to work at this lovely woman's boutique here in town. God is good and He knew all along the ideal job for me because He knows me best.
Tourists amaze me. Some are more friendly than others, but that is a given, correct? I love being able to actually have a conversation with many of the people who walk through the shop which probably wouldn't have been possibly in a fast pace work environment such as a restaurant. One of my favorite things to discover is where people are from. Majority do come from the PNW but I am in awe of how many people from Europe and other parts of the world come through Cannon Beach. How they discover this cute, artsy beach town will forever remain a mystery to me. Another thing I love is when I find out that a person is a Christian. The question, "What are you doing here?" is asked a lot. It may just be that people are curious or concerned as to why a 20 year old is working at this boutique OR it may be because I stick out like a sore thumb in the crowd. BUT with this question, I am given the opportunity to tell people I am attending Ecola Bible School. I love it when the response, "We're Christians, too" is expressed.
I am very thankful for this opportunity to see a whole different side of Cannon Beach. Trust me there are a good amount of challenges that come about but they mean so little when you have the opportunity to love on a person.
